Special Features:

The ten-year-old Viking Scars combines Highland Park’s gently smoky island character with fruity sweetness. Its name evokes Orkney’s Norse heritage. It is bottled at 40% and comes in gift packaging.

The whisky matured predominantly in European and American oak casks previously used for sherry. Citrus, heather honey, vanilla and spicy ginger shape its flavour. Its delicate peat smoke comes from Orkney’s heather-rich peat, not from the oak casks.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose offers heather honey and citrus fruit, alongside fresh oak and a delicate trace of peat smoke. Dried apple adds to the fruit notes.
• Palate: On the palate, the whisky is light and sweet. Vanilla, orange and honey mingle with ginger spice and gentle smoke.
• Finish: Smoke and sweet spices linger in the medium-length finish, leaving a delicate salty trace.

Distillery/Bottler:

Highland Park Distillery is in Kirkwall on Orkney, and its history reaches back to 1798. The distillery makes and bottles this single malt. Highland Park uses peat from Hobbister Moor, where heather contributes to the aromatic smoke characteristic of its house style.

In Kirkwall, the distillery still turns some of its malt by hand and dries it in two traditional kilns. Four copper stills shape the new-make spirit, while Highland Park also matures whisky in traditional earth-floored warehouses. Selecting oak casks previously used for sherry is another part of its approach. Highland Park belongs to Edrington.
