Special Features:

Sky of Orkney is an 18-year-old travel-retail release bottled by Highland Park Distillery. Its maturation combined first-fill sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks with refill casks.

Its aromas include black cherries, cocoa nibs and heather honey, alongside Sicilian lemon zest, pistachio and fragrant heather peat. The whisky has a natural, deep amber colour and is bottled at 46% in a 0.7-litre bottle.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, light heather-peat smoke and cherries mingle with yellow plums and dried fruit. A creamy caramel note and a little oak round out the aromas.
• Palate: The whisky feels creamy on the palate. Sweet fruit, nutty sherry notes and caramelised malt meet ripe orange and its zest, raisins and restrained oak.
• Finish: On the finish, European oak remains subtly present, with heather peat emerging again behind it.

Distillery/Bottler:

Highland Park Distillery stands in Kirkwall on Orkney and traces its history to 1798. Some of its malt is turned by hand and dried over peat in two traditional kilns. Four copper stills produce the new make spirit, and the distillery also uses dunnage warehouses for maturation.
