Special Features:

Hogshead combines various Scottish single malts to create a blended malt. Around 30% of the composition comes from Islay, with the remaining components sourced from mainland Scotland. The proportion from Islay shapes its distinctly smoky character.

The whisky matured in hogshead-sized oak casks before Signatory Vintage bottled it at 43%. Malt, honey, apple and vanilla-tinged oak meet peat smoke, oak and dark chocolate. The 0.7-litre bottling is chill-filtered, contains no colouring and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines peat smoke, sweet vanilla and caramel with a salty maritime accent. Mango, apple and passion fruit complement roasted oak, coffee and dark chocolate.
• Palate: The whisky is sweet and smoky on the palate. Spiced oak, vanilla and chocolate meet liquorice, salted caramel, hay, coffee and tropical fruit, while barley and peat smoke lead into the finish.
• Finish: The medium-length, lightly smoky finish combines peat smoke and chocolate with impressions of leaves and freshly cut grass.

Distillery/Bottler:

Signatory Vintage is an independent bottler founded by Andrew Symington and his brother in 1988. After acquiring Edradour Distillery in 2002, the company gradually transferred its activities to the distillery’s site in Pitlochry; its entire operation has been based there since 2007. For Hogshead, Signatory Vintage combines Scottish single malts and bottles the finished composition.
