Special Features:

This Imperial comes from a single Bourbon Barrel. The distillery distilled the whisky on 5 December 1989; after 31 years of maturation, Signatory Vintage bottled it on 20 October 2021 at cask strength of 55.9%. Cask 2072 yielded 115 bottles for Drankenshop Broekmans and Tasttoe. The whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

The long maturation in a Bourbon Barrel brings together ripe fruit and vanilla with malty sweetness, honey and caramel. Oak and dry spice provide a contrast. The whisky comes from a distillery that closed in 1998 and was demolished in 2013.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose offers ripe fruit and vanilla, accompanied by subtle spice and delicate malty sweetness.
• Palate: The whisky is full-bodied on the palate, where honey and oak meet a hint of caramel.
• Finish: The finish is long, warm and lightly spicy, ending pleasantly dry.

Distillery/Bottler:

Imperial Distillery was founded in Speyside in 1897. Its history included lengthy interruptions to production; it closed permanently in 1998 and was demolished in 2013. This expression, distilled in 1989, therefore comes from a distillery that no longer exists.

Signatory Vintage is an independent bottler founded by Andrew Symington and his brother in 1988. The company is now based at Edradour Distillery in Pitlochry and is known for selecting individual casks. Signatory Vintage bottled the whisky from Imperial cask 2072 for this release.
