This eight-year-old KinGlassie Double Matured is one of the InchDairnie Distillery’s first single malt releases. Distilled in 2017, the whisky initially matured for five years in ex-bourbon casks and then spent three years in Amontillado casks. Both inaugural KinGlassie bottlings were launched in May 2025.

For KinGlassie, the distillery uses malted barley from Fife and peat from mainland Scotland. The malt specification ranges from 40 to 60 ppm, with a target of around 50 ppm. The spirit is distilled twice and passes through two condensers; the additional copper contact helps reduce sulphur compounds.

Bottled at 46.3% without added colouring or chill filtration, this single malt comes in a 0.7-litre bottle. Powerful smoke and tobacco meet almonds and further nutty impressions, while a velvety, almost chewy texture accompanies its distinctly smoke-driven character.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, intense smoke and tobacco combine with toasted almonds.
• Palate: On the palate, velvety smoke meets pronounced nuttiness and a dense, almost chewy texture with a hint of charcoal.
• Finish: The finish is long, gentle and elegantly smoky, leaving lingering nutty accents.

Distillery/Bottler:

The InchDairnie Distillery is located in Fife beneath the Lomond Hills. Distillation began there in December 2015; KinGlassie was first distilled in 2017 and released alongside KinGlassie Raw in May 2025 as one of the distillery’s first single malts.

The distillery works with a hammer mill, a mash conversion vessel and a mash filter instead of a conventional mash tun. Each of its stills has two condensers. KinGlassie is produced during a short winter production window and, like the distillery’s other whiskies, matures on site in Fife.

Since 1 May 2025, InchDairnie Distillery Ltd and MacDuff International (Scotch Whisky) Ltd have been united within InchDairnie Whisky Ltd. The merger took place immediately before the launch of KinGlassie and brings distillation and marketing together under one company.
