Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 52.5% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No
Special Features:
This bottling centres on its long maturation in a single refill hogshead. The Inchgower distilled in 2007 spent 18 years in cask 801639 before James Eadie bottled it in 2026 at 52.5%, yielding 407 bottles of 0.7 litres each. The single malt is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.
The bottling is part of the Distilleries of Great Britain & Ireland Collection. It was inspired by a series published between 1922 and 1929 featuring portraits of 124 distilleries, which James Eadie later reissued for the first time as a stand-alone volume. The label design draws on illustrations based on historical photographs from this work.
The overall character brings apple and apricot together with honey, herbs and subtle minerality. Ripe fruit, malty sweetness, spice and a touch of salinity give the whisky structure before a long, dry finish with oak spice.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: On the nose, fresh citrus notes combine with green apple and honeyed malt, accompanied by a light sea breeze and gentle oak.
- Palate: The whisky is balanced and textured on the palate, with lemon peel, orchard fruit, toffee and mild spice.
- Finish: The finish remains long and clear, with lingering citrus, light salinity and delicate oak warmth.
Distillery/Bottler:
Inchgower began operating near the fishing town of Buckie in 1872, while the roots of the Wilson family business extend back to the Tochieneal Distillery, founded in 1822. The distillery stands above Buckie and overlooks the Moray Firth.
James Eadie is an independent bottler focused on single casks, small batches and cask-finished releases. Rupert Patrick, a great-great-grandson of James Eadie, who was a brewer and whisky merchant, revived the family name and its whisky tradition for the present-day company. Through the Distilleries of Great Britain & Ireland Collection, the bottler links its cask selection with the historical record of distilleries that it republished.
