Special Features:

A four-year finish in first-fill Tokaji barriques shapes this Inchgower release from the Benchmark series. Distilled in 2010, the single malt had previously matured in bourbon hogsheads. The sweet fruit influence of the Hungarian wine casks complements its robust, maritime character without obscuring it.

Murray McDavid released the fourteen-year-old whisky in spring 2025. Casks 2100040 and 2100041 yielded 721 bottles at 53.4% ABV. The whisky comes in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging; it is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals honeydew melon alongside tropical and floral fruit notes.
• Palate: On the palate, lemon compote and nutty malt mingle with salty sea spray.
• Finish: Citrus oil, waxy fruit and gentle oak linger on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Built in 1871, Inchgower Distillery stands on the Speyside coast. Rapid mashing, short fermentation and steeply rising lyne arms contribute to the robust character of its malt. The distillery produced the single malt for this release; independent bottler Murray McDavid handled its subsequent cask maturation and bottling.

Murray McDavid was founded in 1994 by wine merchants Mark Reynier and Simon Coughlin, together with Gordon Wright of Springbank. Maturing whisky in a variety of casks, particularly wine casks, became a focus of the bottler’s work. Murray McDavid now belongs to Aceo Limited and is based at Coleburn Distillery in Speyside.
