Special Features:

A sherry-cask finish adds another dimension to this rum's bold Jamaican character. The pot still rum comes from St. Catherine and initially matured in the Caribbean. It then spent 15 to 18 months in second-fill Oloroso barrels, with a small proportion maturing in Pedro Ximénez casks.

The selected rums are blended together. The vinous, fruity sherry influences soften the intense ester funk without displacing the underlying dry, spicy character. This five-year-old rum is offered at 50% in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Balsamic camphor notes meet pronounced ester funk on the nose. Cane sugar, fermented notes and vinous touches complete the bouquet.
• Palate: These impressions return on the palate, joined by wood resin, pine needles, black pepper, raisins and old wood, with a hint of flour. A subtle sweetness stays in the background; the overall impression is dry and spicy.
• Finish: The finish is hot, lively and peppery. The Jamaican funk lingers on the tongue.

Distillery/Bottler:

Rum Nation is an independent bottler founded by Fabio Rossi in 1999. His company, Rossi & Rossi, had already gained experience selecting and bottling whisky through Wilson & Morgan Barrel Selection. The rum range encompasses regional blends as well as the Rare Rums collection, featuring small bottling runs from individual distilleries, cask finishes and single-cask bottlings. The brand has belonged to the Danish company Mac Y since November 2018.
