Special Features:

Green Label occupies a distinctive place in the Johnnie Walker core range: this blended malt is made exclusively from single malts, each matured for at least 15 years. Whiskies from Talisker, Linkwood, Cragganmore and Caol Ila are among its defining components. European and American oak casks are used for maturation, after which the mature malts from different Scottish whisky regions are combined to create the blended malt.

After a temporary absence from the market, Green Label returned in 2016. This presentation comes in gift packaging with a bottle containing 0.7 litres, and the whisky is bottled at 43%.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals raspberries, candied apple, orange and delicate orchard fruit. Pine needles, vanilla, caramel, grassy heath notes and floral accents mingle with bay leaf and a hint of liquorice, while fine maritime smoke remains in the background.
• Palate: The whisky is full-bodied, supple and smooth on the palate. Pear, apple, grain and malt sit alongside rich sherry notes of dates and raisins, adding a fruity sweetness. Creamy vanilla, oak and cedarwood, together with restrained spicy smoke, complete the flavour.
• Finish: The finish is medium in length, leaving fruit, spicy oak and a slowly fading island-style note of peat and smoke.

Distillery/Bottler:

The history of Johnnie Walker began in 1820, when John Walker opened a grocery shop in Kilmarnock and began blending whisky. His son Alexander later expanded the business internationally, while subsequent generations developed features including the slanted label and the Striding Man.

For Green Label, Johnnie Walker & Sons combines single malts matured for at least 15 years from several Scottish distilleries. This blended malt is therefore not the product of a single distillery, but a deliberately composed combination of different malts.
