The twelve-year-old Jura Oloroso Sherry Finish initially matures in American oak ex-bourbon casks before undergoing a full finish in American and European oak Oloroso sherry hogsheads.

Jura's tall copper stills encourage the development of a light, fruity spirit. The Oloroso finish complements this house style with dark plum, dried citrus notes and caramelised walnut.

This distillery bottling comes in a 0.7-litre bottle at 46% ABV, with natural colour and no chill filtration. Gift packaging is included. The whisky is not smoky.

The edition draws on the Spanish tradition of sobremesa, the shared time spent lingering after a meal. Its gift packaging reflects the Oloroso theme through Andalusian mosaic motifs and a deep burgundy colour.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Ripe apricot and juicy peach combine on the nose with dark plum and dried citrus fruit.
• Palate: On the palate, creamy honey and caramelised walnut form a smooth, delicately sweet core. The stone fruit develops into dark plum, while the ripe citrus notes increasingly take on a dried and candied character.
• Finish: The long finish combines the bittersweet depth of dark chocolate with a gentle hint of vanilla.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Isle of Jura Distillery in Craighouse produces and matures the whisky, and the Oloroso edition is bottled by the distillery itself. Founded in 1810, the distillery closed in 1901 and resumed production in 1963 following a complete rebuild. It has belonged to Whyte & Mackay since 1994.

The rebuild was intended to create new economic prospects for the small island community. William Delme-Evans designed particularly tall copper stills for the distillery, encouraging the development of a light, fruity spirit. This character provides the foundation for the darker fruit and nut notes imparted by the Oloroso finish.
