Kavalan Solist Port Cask is fully matured in selected first-fill Port wine casks. Each Solist bottling comes from a single cask; however, the bottles in this offering are not separated by cask number. The whisky is bottled at 57.8% cask strength, at natural colour and without chill filtration, and comes in gift packaging.

Maturation in Port wine casks shapes the rich, fruity and sweet character. Plum, strawberry and blackberry stand out against dark chocolate, while orange, further citrus notes, dried fruit, raisins, nuts and gentle oak spice broaden the profile.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, ripe fruit and nutty notes combine with orange, further citrus notes and gentle oak spice.
• Palate: On the palate, rich fruitiness and natural sweetness meet dark chocolate and a soft, full-bodied texture.
• Finish: The fruity, chocolatey impression lingers pleasantly in a long finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

The King Car Kavalan Distillery was built in 2005 in Yilan, north-eastern Taiwan, and began production in 2006. It uses spring water from the Xue-Shan mountain range, while the warm, humid subtropical climate influences maturation in its warehouses.

To create its characteristically fruity and floral style, the distillery works with unpeated barley malt and deliberately takes a short middle cut during distillation. The whisky is an official bottling from the King Car Kavalan Distillery.
