Kavalan Triple Sherry Cask is not simply finished in sherry casks: three whiskies are each matured fully and separately in Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez and Moscatel sherry casks. Only then are they married and rested, allowing the distinct cask influences to combine into a harmonious composition.

Dried fruit from the Oloroso component forms the flavourful core, while Pedro Ximénez and Moscatel contribute additional sweetness. Rich caramel, malt sugar and tropical fruit add further layers to its complex sherry character. Bottled at 40%, the composition remains approachable. Kavalan introduced its first in-house combination of these three sherry cask types in 2021.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines ripe berries and dried fruit with light-coloured grapes, citrus, chocolate brownie and toffee. Cinnamon, clove, oak and a delicate herbal note of rosemary complete the aromatic profile.
• Palate: The palate opens with dried sherry fruit and a gentle, sherry-led sweetness of caramel, honey and malt. Tropical and candied fruit add further layers and texture.
• Finish: The finish remains pleasantly long and balanced, with fruit and spice fading alongside a fresh trace of citrus.

Distillery/Bottler:

Kavalan Distillery is located in Yilan County, Taiwan, and belongs to the King Car Group. It has produced single malt whisky there since 2005. Spring water from Snow Mountain and the region’s high temperatures and humidity shape its production and maturation conditions.

For Triple Sherry Cask, Kavalan matures the three whiskies separately until they are fully mature, then marries them and allows the composition to rest and harmonise. The distillery produces the whisky itself and releases it as an official bottling.
