Double distillation shapes this Kilbeggan blend of malt and grain whiskey. Alongside its smooth texture, it retains malt and grain flavours and a subtle spiciness.

The whiskey matures for at least four years in former bourbon casks. Lemon and honey are joined by caramel, vanilla and toasted wood, with peach and almond nougat also emerging on the palate.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, lemon, honey and barley appear alongside caramel, vanilla and toasted wood. Over time, subtle malt and distinct grain notes become more prominent.
• Palate: The whiskey feels smooth and silky on the palate. Honeyed sweetness and spicy malt are joined by almond nougat, peach, caramel and vanilla; light, sweet malt notes follow quickly.
• Finish: Malt lingers on the finish, accompanied by lasting dryness and oak.

Cooley Distillery produces the Kilbeggan blend. Together with the historic Kilbeggan Distillery, it belongs to the Kilbeggan Distilling Company; the brand is part of Suntory Global Spirits.

The story of Kilbeggan Distillery on the River Brosna began in 1757. After closing in the 20th century, the site was revived, and whiskey has been distilled there again since 2007. Its restored waterwheel recalls the former use of the river’s power. The blend described here, however, is produced at Cooley.
