Loch Gorm 2025 is the first ten-year-old release in Kilchoman’s annual sherry-cask series. Anthony and Robin selected 23 Oloroso sherry butts: 20 first-fill and three second-fill casks. The whisky matured entirely in them. Its pronounced sherry character brings dark fruit and rich spice together with Kilchoman’s citrus notes and bold peat smoke, alongside a barbecue-like sweetness.

The edition is bottled at 46% in 0.7-litre bottles. It is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, charred orange zest, smoky barbecue notes and Oloroso spice mingle with vanilla and dried fruit. Hints of caramelised pudding cake, freshly roasted coffee and candied ginger follow.
• Palate: The whisky feels warming and viscous on the palate. Dry cinnamon spice, nutty notes and vanilla accompany sweet chocolate oranges. Honey-roasted figs, cloves and sticky toffee pudding add further layers, while a subtle smoky note recalls grilled bananas.
• Finish: The full, long finish brings together rich, sweet peat smoke and dried fruit with spicy and earthy notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Anthony and Kathy Wills founded Kilchoman in 2005 as a family-run farm distillery on Islay. The distillery has its own floor maltings, ferments its wort for around 90 hours and operates its small stills by hand. For its 100% Islay range, it grows barley on the farm and handles every stage there through to bottling. For Loch Gorm 2025, the whisky matured in Oloroso sherry casks and was bottled by Kilchoman. Loch Gorm takes its name from a nearby freshwater loch.
