Special Features:

This single cask whisky was distilled on 25 August 2014 and matured for eleven years in first-fill Amontillado sherry hogshead number 351. Best Dram bottled it at cask strength on 23 April 2026 at 55.4%, yielding 279 bottles. The whisky has a clear mahogany colour, is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

The Amontillado maturation brings together dried apricots, raisins, orange zest and caramel with nutty sherry notes, tobacco and spice. Malt, toffee, cinnamon and a hint of pepper lead into a dry, lingering finish with oak, dark chocolate and a tart, nutty Amontillado note.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose opens with dried apricots, raisins and dark chocolate with caramel; orange zest, nuts and a delicate tobacco note complete the aroma.
• Palate: On the palate, the whisky is creamy and sweet, with malt, toffee and nutty sherry notes accompanied by cinnamon. A woody character and a hint of pepper add further spice.
• Finish: The finish is dry and lingering; oak, dark chocolate and a tart Amontillado note persist with nutty depth.

Distillery/Bottler:

Knockdhu Distillery produced this single malt in the village of Knock near Huntly, at the foot of Knock Hill. Opened in 1894, the distillery continues to work with copper stills, wooden washbacks and dunnage warehouses; its own single malts are marketed under the anCnoc name.

Best Dram is a range of independent Scotch bottlings overseen by Michel Reick, who selects individual casks. Best Dram bottled this Knockdhu from cask 351 as a single-cask release at cask strength.
