Special Features:

Kornog combines powerful peat with iodine and fruit notes. This single malt matures in bourbon casks on the Brittany coast and is bottled at 46% without colouring or chill filtration. The bottle comes in a tube.

For the regular Kornog, Celtic Whisky Distillerie selects mature casks, tastes each one individually and brings their contents together. It then gradually reduces the alcohol strength to 46%. Fresh fruit, herbs and cask spice appear alongside peat and iodine.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Powerful iodine appears first on the nose. Almond oil, green apple, fresh pineapple and passion fruit follow; lemon peel and beeswax are accompanied by a hint of vanilla.
• Palate: Kornog tastes fresh on the palate: powerful peat smoke mingles with grass, mint and verbena. Pineapple and mandarin then emerge, alongside spice from cask maturation.
• Finish: The finish is long, gentle and fruity, with the peat still apparent.

Distillery/Bottler:

Celtic Whisky Distillerie has operated since 1999 in a farmstead dating from 1668 in Pleubian, near the sea on Brittany’s north coast. Jean and Martine Donnay founded the company in 1997. Glann Ar Mor was its first single malt; the heavily peated Kornog range followed.

The distillery has two small pot stills heated by open flames, as well as wooden fermentation vessels. Distillation is slow, and the whiskies mature near the coast. The distillery brings together the contents of selected casks for the regular Kornog and bottles the whisky itself.
