Special features: This 12-year-old Lagavulin from the Diageo Special Releases 2025 is presented in the limited edition "Grain & Embers". Aged in refill casks as well as in European oak casks that were previously filled with Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry, it unfolds a complex array of aromas. Bottled at cask strength with 56.5% ABV, it remains unfiltered and without coloring, which underscores its authenticity.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Strong, clear aromas with moderate intensity. Immediately phenolic, with smoldering peat and wood ash, then a soft-perfumed sweetness, underlined by mineral-marine notes reminiscent of lobster pots, fresh scallops, and dry oyster shells. Over time, the bouquet becomes drier.
• Palate: Smooth and slightly oily in texture, with robust flavors. At the same time sweet with notes of dried fruits, spicy-piquant and salty. Then strong smoky peat notes develop. With a drop of water, it becomes smoother and sweeter, yet remains full of life.
• Finish: Very long, dry, and slightly smoky, with lingering saltiness and more peat in the aftertaste. A little water adds a certain chili spice.

Distillery/Bottler: The Lagavulin Distillery, founded in 1816, is located on the southern coast of the Scottish island of Islay. Known for its heavily peated whiskies, it has earned a solid place among lovers of smoky single malts. The name "Lagavulin" means "the hollow where the mill stands" and refers to the geographical location of the distillery.
