Langatun Swiss Bernbon Whiskey
Special features: The Langatun Swiss Bernbon Whiskey is a corn whiskey from the canton of Bern, made with 70% corn and 30% malted barley. For aging, mainly Krogemann barrels are used, former wine barrels that have been revitalized and toasted, giving the whiskey spicy and vanilla notes. Additionally, red wine barrels that previously held Merlot or Barolo are used, which adds depth and subtle fruitiness to the Bernbon. Each bottling is hand-numbered, emphasizing the individuality of each bottle.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Subtle and soft with typical bourbon aromas from the corn and lightly roasted notes, accompanied by a subtle fruitiness in the background.
- Palate: Sweet and soft with clear roasted and wood notes as well as flavors of fresh green grapes, caramel, and vanilla.
- Finish: Medium-long and soft with bourbon aromas, a slight wine influence, and a hint of raisins.
Distillery/Bottler: The Langatun Distillery AG was founded in 2005 by Hans Baumberger III and continues the tradition of the Baumberger family, which began distillation in 1857. The distillery is located in the Kornhaus built in 1616 in Aarwangen, Switzerland, and produces handcrafted single malts and other high-quality distillates.
