Special Features:

Langatun Swiss Rye is made from 100% rye. The whiskey matures mainly in so-called Krogemann casks, former wine casks that have been revitalised and newly toasted, with a smaller proportion matured in red wine casks that previously held Merlot or Barolo. For each batch, Langatun marries the whiskeys matured in these casks. Each bottle is individually numbered by hand.

The revitalised wine casks contribute spicy and vanilla accents, while the red wine casks give the whiskey depth and subtle fruitiness. Grain and wine notes combine with grape pomace, peach and caramel on the nose. The rye becomes more prominent on the palate, while the wine influence recedes and a subtle woody note remains. The medium-length, dry finish reveals delicate fruit notes, vanilla and dried fruit.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is intense, aromatic and slightly sweet. Grain and wine notes are evenly balanced with grape pomace, peach and caramel.
• Palate: The whiskey is pleasant and spicy on the palate. The rye becomes more prominent, while the wine influence recedes and a subtle woody note remains present.
• Finish: The finish is medium in length and dry, with subtle fruit notes, vanilla and dried fruit.

Distillery/Bottler:

Langatun Distillery AG produces Swiss Rye in Switzerland. It marries the matured whiskeys batch by batch and releases the whiskey as a distillery bottling.

Since 2014, Langatun has distilled in Aarwangen’s listed historic granary, while the casks continue to mature in Langenthal.
