Special Features:

Le Freak deliberately brings the flavour of potato to the fore rather than aiming for the most neutral vodka possible. It is made exclusively from German potatoes. A culture of its own yeast strain supports the spicy-sweet potato notes with pepper and nutmeg, while the mouthfeel is creamy and buttery.

The potatoes are washed, chopped and heated in water, converting their starch into fermentable sugar. The subsequent slow fermentation lasts more than 100 hours. After distillation, several filtration stages follow before soft, demineralised water is added. The vodka is offered at 40% alcohol in a 0.7-litre bottle.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines earthy potato notes with restrained spice and a hint of nutmeg.
• Palate: On the palate, the vodka is soft and creamy with a pronounced buttery texture. It has fullness and a distinct freshness.
• Finish: Black pepper and nutmeg emerge in the finish. A light sweetness remains at the end.

Distillery/Bottler:

Le Freak comes from Weinbrennerei Jacobi in Weinstadt. For this potato vodka, the company works directly with farmers in southern Germany and provides them with financial support. Its own yeast strain culture plays an important role in production: it is used not only for fermentation but also to bring out the desired spicy-sweet aromas.
