Special features: The "Leapfrog" from Murray McDavid is a reissue of a legendary bottling that dates back to the story of "McDavid vs. McGoliath" 25 years ago. This heavily peated single malt from a distillery on the southern coast of Islay matured for 13 years in former bourbon barrels, preserving the intense peatiness of the Islay heavyweight. The bottling is limited to 687 bottles and was bottled in autumn 2025.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Citrus oils, light smoke, salted butter
Palate: Lively ember, lemon candies, chili
Finish: Oily peat, sweet charcoal, pineapple
Distillery/Bottler: Murray McDavid was founded in 1996 by Mark Reynier, Simon Coughlin, and Gordon Wright. The independent bottler is known for its careful selection and maturation of single malts from various Scottish distilleries. In 2000, Murray McDavid acquired the Bruichladdich Distillery and played a significant role in its revival.
