Special Features:

This twelve-year-old Ledaig combines the peated style of Tobermory Distillery with Gordon & MacPhail’s cask selection. Matured in bourbon and sherry casks for the Discovery release, the whisky was bottled in 2018 at 43%. Peat smoke and a gentle salty note sit alongside apple, toffee, stewed fruit and sweet dessert notes. The bottle comes in a tube.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, peat smoke and maple-cured meat mingle with toffee and baked apple. Coastal grass and a gentle salty note follow.
• Palate: The palate brings stewed fruit, sultanas and currants alongside milk chocolate and crème brûlée. Sweet toffee, citrus and a hint of glowing campfire embers add further notes.
• Finish: Oak remains present through the lingering finish, accompanied by gentle citrus notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 1798, Tobermory Distillery is located on the Isle of Mull and produces two styles of single malt: unpeated Tobermory and peated Ledaig. Both are part of CVH Spirits’ brand portfolio. Gordon & MacPhail was founded in Speyside in 1895 and grew from a merchant into an independent bottler that matures whisky in its own casks. It selects oak casks to suit spirits from different distilleries, monitors maturation by taking samples and determines when to bottle them. This Ledaig was distilled at Tobermory Distillery; Gordon & MacPhail oversaw the maturation and bottling of the Discovery release.
