Special Features:

The whisky was distilled at Tobermory in 2006 and matured for 19 years in refill butt number 1. The Single Malts of Scotland bottled it in 2025 at a cask strength of 55.6% as a single-cask release limited to 636 bottles; it has neither added colouring nor chill filtration.

Even after 19 years in the refill butt, Ledaig’s powerful style remains clearly recognisable. Earthy peat smoke and maritime salinity meet dried fruit, toffee, apricot, orange peel and nuts, complemented by oak and dry spices.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, earthy peat smoke and maritime salinity combine with abundant dried fruit and a hint of spicy depth.
• Palate: On the palate, oily smoke combines with sweet toffee, ripe apricot, bitter orange peel and nuts.
• Finish: The finish is long and dry, with oak, spices, fruit and peat smoke lingering persistently.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 1798, Tobermory Distillery stands on the coast of the Isle of Mull and produces two distinctly different single malt styles. While Tobermory is unpeated, Ledaig represents the distillery’s powerfully smoky and earthy side. Its water comes from the nearby Gearr Abhainn stream.

The Single Malts of Scotland is an independent bottling range from Elixir Distillers. In 2002, Sukhinder Singh bottled his first selected single malt cask under this new brand name. The range focuses on selected single casks and their individual character, without added colouring or chill filtration; for this Ledaig, the refill butt bears cask number 1.
