A tawny port finish defines this single-cask bottling from Murray McDavid's Benchmark series. For the finishing period, the independent bottler selected a First Fill Tawny Port Barrique from Caves de Murça in Portugal's Douro Valley. This carefully chosen period in a cask previously used for port complements Linkwood's ten years of maturation.

The whisky was distilled at Linkwood in 2012 and bottled from cask 313762 in 2023. The edition selected for Germany comprises 362 bottles, each containing 0.7 litres. It retains its cask strength of 57.2% and was bottled without chill filtration or added colouring. The bottle comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose brings together ripe, sweet apples, red grapes, oranges and juicy berries. Malt sweetness stays subtly in the background. Tobacco, cocoa and nutty notes add delicate spicy accents.
• Palate: The whisky is rich and full-bodied on the palate. Pears, nectarines, dark berries and black cherries meet bold caramel and spicy honey. Oak, dry spices and aromatic herbs complement the fruit, with a little leather adding another note.
• Finish: The fruit slowly fades. Warm citrus notes, delicate herbs and pronounced oak spice linger through the long finish, accompanied by subtle apple notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Linkwood stands on the outskirts of Elgin in Speyside and was founded in 1821 by Peter Brown. The distillery uses clear wort and long fermentation times. During slow distillation, the spirit stills, which are larger than the wash stills, encourage copper contact. These choices support the distillery's fragrant, delicate style without overshadowing the texture of the matured whisky.

Murray McDavid was founded in 1994 by London wine merchants Mark Reynier and Simon Coughlin together with Gordon Wright of Springbank. Their experience with wine informed the selection of maturation casks: wine casks in particular have been a focus of the independent bottler from the outset. Its home is Coleburn Distillery in Speyside. Linkwood produced the whisky for this edition; Murray McDavid is responsible for cask selection, finishing and bottling.
