This ten-year-old Highland Single Malt combines fresh orchard fruit with creamy vanilla, caramel and restrained peat smoke. Bottled at 40%, its balanced combination of fruit, sweetness and smoke makes it an approachable Loch Lomond expression.

This expression brings together whiskies from Straight Neck Pot Stills and traditional swan-neck pot stills. They mature in three types of American oak cask: bourbon casks, refill casks previously used to mature whisky, and recharred casks. Master Blender Michael Henry combines the different spirit and cask influences to create the finished Single Malt.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines fresh apple and ripe pear with refreshing citrus notes and a hint of grain. Sweet vanilla, cinnamon spice and light peat smoke complement the fruity aromas.
• Palate: On the palate, the whisky opens with creamy caramel and vanilla. Caramelised apples and juicy pears join them, followed by cinnamon, smoke and woody notes. The pear character gives way to lemon and a light sweetness.
• Finish: The finish remains mild and sweet. Caramelised apples and gentle, dark spice notes linger, accompanied by a delicate smoky note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Loch Lomond Distillery Co. Ltd produces this Single Malt in Alexandria, at the southern end of Loch Lomond. The present distillery was established in 1965, with distillation beginning in 1966. The brand belongs to the Loch Lomond Group, and the ten-year-old Single Malt is an official distillery bottling.

The different still types allow the distillery to produce spirits with distinct characters. Special plates inside the straight necks of the Straight Neck Pot Stills allow precise control over alcohol vapour contact and the selection of spirit fractions. The long, 92-hour fermentation contributes to the fruity house style. In the distillery’s own cooperage, cask staves are repaired or replaced and casks are recharred before being filled with whisky again. Michael Henry has worked at Loch Lomond since 2007 and has been Master Blender since 2014.
