Special Features:

Marriage in a solera system shapes Loch Lomond Signature. Its malt and grain whiskies come from the same distillery and are brought together for further maturation in a system of around 600 casks. These include Oloroso sherry casks and recharred American oak casks. Master Blender Michael Henry oversees the blend, and his signature appears on every bottle.

This bottling combines fruity sweetness with malt and spice, alongside a subtle smoky element. The whisky is bottled at 40% in a 0.7-litre bottle and comes in gift packaging. It is chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The expressive nose recalls fortified wine, combining rich sultanas with dark fruit and a subtle smoky note.
• Palate: Bold malt initially takes the lead on the palate. Ripe pears, cinnamon, ginger and dark sugar join it, along with hints of dried fruit.
• Finish: On the finish, dried-fruit notes give way to blackcurrant, with lemony acidity emerging at the end.

Distillery/Bottler:

The present-day Loch Lomond Distillery in Alexandria, near Loch Lomond, began production in 1966. It combines conventional swan-neck pot stills, straight-neck pot stills and continuous grain distillation at a single site. Different stills and spirit cut points allow it to produce various malt styles, while its own grain production enables it to create blends entirely from in-house whiskies.

An on-site cooperage gives Loch Lomond direct control over cask maintenance. Work there includes replacing damaged staves and cask heads and recharring casks before they are filled with whisky again. This approach is also relevant to Signature, whose solera system includes recharred American oak casks.
