Special Features:

The Nine #3 brings together Loch Lomond’s unpeated spirit and two stages of cask maturation. Distilled in 2010 using Swan-Neck Pot Stills, the whisky first matured in an American oak hogshead before being finished in a first-fill Oloroso hogshead #21/555-10. The single cask yielded 274 bottles in 2023, filled at 56.8%. The whisky is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring. Each 0.7-litre bottle comes in a tube.

The Oloroso finish adds raisins, cinnamon, toffee and walnut to the whisky’s fruity character. Honey and apple sit alongside cask spice, while oak and Christmas spices shape the long finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose offers honey, raisins and pronounced cinnamon.
• Palate: The whisky is full-bodied on the palate, with Christmas spices and apple followed by sweet toffee and walnut. A subtle hint of smoke accompanies the oak spice.
• Finish: The long finish combines spice and oak with lingering fruit; caramel and dried fruit remain on the palate.

Distillery/Bottler:

Loch Lomond Distillery in Alexandria produces both malt and grain whisky. For The Nine #3, it used unpeated spirit from its Swan-Neck Pot Stills and bottled the single malt itself. The distillery also works with Straight-Neck Pot Stills, different yeast cultures, and both peated and unpeated malt. These production options provide context for the series, though not all were used for this single cask.
