Lochlea is an independent, family-run farm distillery near Craigie in Ayrshire. The idea of establishing its own distillery emerged in 2014, and distillation began in the summer of 2018.
The distillery grows Laureate barley on its 90-hectare farm and draws water from its own well. The team produces the new-make spirit in two copper pot stills, and the resulting whisky matures in warehouses on the farm. Barley cultivation, distillation and maturation therefore remain connected at the same location.
