Special Features:

For the 2023 Double Cask release, the whisky matured for 18 years in sherry-seasoned American and European oak casks. Together, they give it a sweeter, warmer character. Vanilla, spice, toffee, sultanas and sweet ginger are among its notes.

Its colour develops naturally during cask maturation. The single malt is offered at 43% in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging. It is chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, dried fruit and toffee mingle with candied citrus peel, ginger and nutmeg.
• Palate: On the palate, raisins, sultanas and dried apricots meet toffee with dark sugar syrup, vanilla and ginger. Toasted oak spice and baked apple complement the fruit notes.
• Finish: The finish is long and warm, with lingering oak and citrus.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Macallan Distillery is in Craigellachie, Speyside, and dates back to 1824. It produces the single malt; the whisky then matures in casks before being bottled as an official bottling. The Macallan Distillers Limited is the company behind Macallan products.

For its casks, The Macallan selects oak, has it made into casks, toasts them and seasons them with sherry. The Master of Wood oversees this work to the specifications of the Whisky Mastery Team. Once filled, the spirit can mature in them undisturbed for years.
