This Speymalt single-cask whisky was distilled at Macallan on 2 April 1997 and matured for 29 years in refill American hogshead no. 4355. Gordon & MacPhail bottled the whisky on 10 June 2026, with an outturn of just 126 bottles.

The whisky was bottled at its natural cask strength of 57.4%, without added colouring or chill filtration, in a 0.7-litre bottle. It comes with a premium box.

Gordon & MacPhail uses the Speymalt name exclusively for bottlings from the Macallan Distillery. For the range, the bottler matures Macallan new make in oak casks commissioned specifically for Speymalt. Each label states the distillation and bottling years; since 2018, releases have appeared only occasionally and in selected markets.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Heather honey, ripe pineapple and lemon lead on the nose, accompanied by gentle vanilla.
• Palate: The whisky is soft and creamy on the palate. Sweet nectarine meets vibrant citrus fruit, while restrained caramel sweetness rounds out the flavour profile.
• Finish: The long finish fades into dry oak, with white pepper lingering as a subtle nuance.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Macallan Distillery was founded in 1824 and was among Scotland’s early officially licensed distilleries. It stands on the Easter Elchies Estate in Speyside, whose historic centre is Easter Elchies House, built in 1700. Macallan’s comparatively small stills contribute to a rich, fruit-forward new make spirit.

Gordon & MacPhail has worked with Scotch new make and its development in different oak casks since 1895. Knowledge accumulated over four generations is preserved through an extensive collection of cask samples that provides a reference for maturation decisions. For Speymalt, Gordon & MacPhail selects and matures the Macallan new make before eventually bottling it.
