Special Features:

For the limited Fusion edition, Mackmyra gives the whisky further maturation in a combination of five cask types. Former Rotspon wine casks account for 38% of the cask recipe and have a capacity of 225 litres. Former Amarone wine casks contribute 33% and hold 500 litres. Ex-bourbon casks account for 16% and hold 200 litres. Oloroso-seasoned casks contribute 7% and have capacities of 128 to 200 litres. The remaining 6% comes from new American oak casks with a capacity of 200 litres.

The Amarone component shapes the deep berry notes, while Rotspon brings fruit and spice. The oak casks contribute vanilla and bring these impressions together. Fusion is bottled at 47.3% ABV; the whisky is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is rounded and warming: dark ripe berries, cherries, strawberries and plums meet creamy, almost buttery vanilla and a hint of salt. Citrus fruit, coffee beans and sandalwood appear in the background.
• Palate: On the palate, the whisky is oily and soft. Vanilla and red berries, especially cherries, lead, complemented by dark chocolate, raisins and mild oriental spices.
• Finish: The long finish has a pronounced red-wine character, with cherries, plums and dried fruit. Light pepper and sweet milk chocolate linger alongside them.

Distillery/Bottler:

The idea for Mackmyra arose in 1998 when eight friends met in Sweden. The following year, they founded Mackmyra Svensk Whisky. From the outset, the distillery used Swedish raw materials for its whisky, including locally grown barley, spring water and Swedish oak.

Today, Mackmyra uses gravity to move production through its Gravity Distillery. The distillery stores some of its whisky in the former Bodås mine, 50 metres underground. Fusion is bottled by Mackmyra itself.
