For MacNair's Lum Reek 21 Year Old, Billy Walker marries peated and unpeated single malts from Islay and Speyside with aged GlenAllachie. The whisky matured in a combination of Oloroso sherry, red wine and virgin oak casks at the GlenAllachie distillery in Speyside. This small-batch bottling brings smoky malts together with sweet and spicy notes from cask maturation. It is offered at 48% alcohol, without chill filtration or added colouring, in a 0.7-litre bottle with a tube.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals mature oak, cigar box and woodsmoke alongside gentle peat smoke, dark chocolate, runny honey and vanilla fudge.
• Palate: On the palate, cedar and spiced wood meet milk chocolate, apricot, leather, cocoa, vanilla and sweet spices, with earthy peat, black pepper and a hint of charcoal.
• Finish: Thyme honey, campfire embers and dark chocolate tart linger on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

The GlenAllachie Distillers Company acquired the MacNair's brand along with the GlenAllachie distillery in 2017 and relaunched Lum Reek as a blended malt range in 2018. Master Blender Billy Walker selects malts from Islay and Speyside and marries them with aged GlenAllachie. Blending and further maturation take place at the GlenAllachie distillery near Aberlour in Speyside; selecting different casks is a central part of Walker's work on the range.
