MacPhail's 15 is a fifteen-year-old single malt from an undisclosed Speyside distillery. The whisky matured in sherry casks and was bottled by Gordon & MacPhail at 40%. The bottle contains 0.7 litres.

Raisins, melon, peach and apricot broaden the fruity profile. Milk chocolate, cinnamon and clove add further dimensions. Sweet fudge, floral nuances and a waxy oak note provide additional accents, while very subtle wood smoke remains in the background.

The whisky is chill-filtered and contains added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, sweet sherry and stewed fruit combine with gentle ginger. Fresh citrus notes, black cherry and poached pear complement the bouquet. A note of waxed oak adds further depth.
• Palate: The whisky is smooth on the palate. Baked apple meets delicate spices, a touch of black pepper, dark chocolate and creamy toffee. Peach and melon add to the fruit, while sweet fudge and floral, lightly perfumed nuances remain in the background.
• Finish: The whisky finishes softly with medium body and toasted oak.

Distillery/Bottler:

Gordon & MacPhail was founded in 1895 as a grocery, wine and spirits merchant in the heart of Speyside. In its early years, John Urquhart was already selecting whiskies from local distilleries and having them matured; this knowledge was passed down through the family.

From this, the company developed an approach that deliberately pairs the character of different distillates with suitable oak casks and oversees their maturation until the right time for bottling.

The Speyside distillery behind MacPhail's 15 remains undisclosed. Gordon & MacPhail selected the sherry casks for this release, oversaw the maturation and bottled the whisky under the MacPhail's name.
