Hombo Shuzo introduced this whisky in 2025 as the first year-round core expression from Mars Komagatake Distillery. It adds a consistently available single malt to a range previously shaped mainly by annual limited editions. To create it, whiskies from ex-bourbon, sherry, port and wine casks, as well as other cask types, are married together. It is bottled at 45% in a 0.7-litre bottle and comes in gift packaging.

Its clear yet full-bodied style combines bright fruit aromas with a soft texture and a pleasantly lingering finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Fresh apple tea and apricot take the lead on the nose.
• Palate: On the palate, the whisky combines a clear, full-bodied structure with juicy apple fruit and the lively acidity of green apples. It feels soft and velvety; honey and toasted almonds give way to ripe persimmon, while vanilla, nougat and subtle wood notes provide delicate accents.
• Finish: The finish remains pleasantly long, clean and gentle. A light sweetness, subtle spice, fruit and wood notes linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Mars Komagatake Distillery is located in Miyada at the foot of Kisokomagatake in the Japanese Central Alps, 798 metres above sea level. Hombo Shuzo opened it in 1985, and the distillery resumed production in 2011 after an extended hiatus. It uses meltwater filtered through granite soil, while clear mountain air and a cool, frequently misty climate shape the site. Hombo Shuzo Co., Ltd produces the whisky and is responsible for the brand.
