Komagatake 2021 is a single malt edition limited to 50,000 bottles from what was then the Mars Shinshu Distillery. It combines malt whiskies matured predominantly in bourbon and sherry casks. Fruity aromas and a gentle sweetness reminiscent of ripe persimmon shape its character.
Banana and milk chocolate meet white pepper and almond. Ginger, cinnamon and black pepper bring spice to the palate, while vanilla and orange brighten the medium-length finish.

Today’s Mars Komagatake Distillery is located in Miyada, Nagano Prefecture, at an altitude of 798 metres at the foot of Mount Komagatake in the Central Alps. Hombo Shuzo established the site in 1985. The cool, misty climate and the rainwater and snowmelt that filter through the granite soil provide the natural setting for whisky production.
The malt whiskies used for the 2021 edition were distilled at what was then the Mars Shinshu Distillery, where the whisky was also matured. On 1 March 2024, the distillery was renamed Mars Komagatake Distillery to align its name with the Single Malt KOMAGATAKE brand. Hombo Shuzo Co., Ltd. is the manufacturer of this official bottling.
