Micil Irish Poitin , Irish Poitin, 44% Vol.,

Micil Poitin is produced according to a unique recipe in a small distillery in South Connemara on the coast of Galway Bay, just like in the days of great-great-great-grandfather Micil Mac Chearra.

Poitin is the "original spirit" from Ireland. Poitin was the national drink in Ireland and its origins lie long before those of whiskey. It is a magical white spirit that should be accessible to every man and woman and is the forerunner of what we know today as whiskey. Poitin has a great history and an irreverent past.

Poitin was banned for more than 200 years. It was not until 1997 that it was legalized again.

For the Micil Poitin they use grains and local botanicals. They have been distilling this unique Poitin for their family and friends for 6 generations. It is distilled from malted barley and a local plant that is called "Bogbean" in Connemara.

This composition gives the Poitin a rich spiciness, honey and malt notes with a velvety finish.

Poitin is great to drink neat, but is also great for mixing, for example with ginger beer and lime.
