Special Features:

This Monymusk combines 24 years of cask maturation with ageing in both tropical and continental conditions. Distilled from molasses in a pot still, the Jamaican rum carries the AHJ mark and matured in American Oak Barrel number 26709. The cask was filled on 4 November 1998, and the rum was bottled in Scotland on 6 February 2023.

Rest & Be Thankful released 161 bottles from this cask at a natural cask strength of 56%. The rum is not chill-filtered and contains no colouring or other additives. The bottle holds 0.7 litres and comes in gift packaging decorated with colourful plant and animal motifs.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Pineapple and mango give the nose a lively fruit character, joined by ripe orange, lemon zest and pomegranate. Coconut pralines and honey contrast with pronounced leather notes and a little wood.
• Palate: The rum is full-bodied and intense on the palate. Papaya, passion fruit, pineapple and citrus combine with vanilla cream and desiccated coconut. Beeswax and oak spice round out the flavours.
• Finish: Ripe fruit and a delicate vanilla note linger on the long finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Monymusk comes from the Clarendon distillery in Lionel Town, in Jamaica's Clarendon parish. Its name comes from the sugar estate of the same name, whose sugar production is closely linked to the distillery's history. In 1980, control of the distillery passed to National Rums of Jamaica.

Rest & Be Thankful began releasing single-cask Scotch whiskies in 2012. Its earliest releases included Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte and Octomore, with rum bottlings joining the range later. The team's connection with Bruichladdich regularly took them past the Scottish viewpoint Rest and Be Thankful on the route from Glasgow to the Islay ferry. This viewpoint gave the brand its name. For its Single Cask Rums, the independent bottler focuses on individually selected casks and natural cask strength.
