Special Features:

This ten-year-old single malt is shaped by a four-year finish in first-fill Calvados Pays d’Auge barriques. The whisky was distilled in 2014 and initially matured in bourbon barrels. Murray McDavid bottled it in autumn 2025 from casks 2101044 and 2101046 at 52.9%; the limited batch comprises 647 bottles.

Calvados casks are now permitted for Scotch maturation. Previously used to hold the French apple brandy, they contribute more than a brief finishing touch here: the finish accounts for four of the whisky’s ten years of maturation. Pome fruit combines with coastal peat and sweet smoke, while grass, lemon and grapefruit add fresh accents.

The whisky is non-chill-filtered and bottled without added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines smoked apple and grassy notes with sweet citrus fruit.
• Palate: Candied pear and lemon meet coastal peat on the palate.
• Finish: The finish combines sweet smoke with orchard fruit and grapefruit.

Distillery/Bottler:

The whisky comes from a distillery built on the Isle of Mull in 1798. Murray McDavid was founded in 1994 by wine merchants Mark Reynier and Simon Coughlin together with Gordon Wright of Springbank. Now based at Coleburn Distillery in Speyside, the independent bottler made an early name for itself by maturing whisky in unusual casks, particularly wine casks. For Mull's Finest, the four-year Calvados finish continues this cask-focused approach.
