Special Features:

Myers's Original Dark combines Jamaican molasses spirits produced by continuous distillation and in traditional pot stills. The rum matures in white oak barrels before being blended. This bottling contains 0.7 litres at 40% alcohol.

The rum can be enjoyed neat or used in cocktails. The bottle includes recipes for Sharkbite, Sunset and Piña Colada, among others. Its dark colour does not come solely from barrel maturation: the rum also contains colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Dark molasses leads on the nose. Alongside it are notes of coffee, celery, allspice, hazelnut and toffee, as well as a subtle hint of ripe pineapple.
• Palate: The opening is buttery. Sweet sugar cane, caramel, tobacco, leather, honey and dark chocolate follow, complemented by raisins and figs.
• Finish: Dark chocolate combines with brown sugar and smoke on the finish. Oak remains noticeable in the background.

Fred L. Myers founded the company in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1879. The family specialised in Jamaican rum and established an international reputation for its name. Its approach combines Jamaican molasses, two distillation methods and the blending of matured rums. Fred L. Myers & Son in Louisville is responsible for importing and bottling this Original Dark.
