Wild heather from Islay shapes this powerful version of Nerabus Heather Gin. The gin is flavoured with heather and bottled at 57% as Navy Strength. The earthy side of the heather is more pronounced here than in the 42% Heather Gin. The Navy Strength version also has a warming character.

Serve with ice, a slice of lime and an aromatic tonic. Another option is a neutral tonic with a few drops of Angostura Bitters.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals a bold juniper aroma with floral and earthy notes.
• Palate: Intense citrus notes combine with spicy herbs on the palate. A hint of sweetness rounds out the flavour.
• Finish: The finish lingers, leaving a slightly salty impression.

Distillery/Bottler:

Nerabus is the brand of Scottish family business Islay Gin Ltd, run by John and Audrey Gow. Its name refers to the small hamlet of Nerabus on Loch Indaal, on the Hebridean island of Islay. Alongside the Heather range, the portfolio includes a Gorse range flavoured with gorse; both are also available in Navy Strength versions.

For the Heather range, wild heather is gathered by hand in August and September, then dried and stored until it is used to flavour the gin. Bottling takes place on Islay. Production thus brings together a locally harvested plant and processing on the island.
