Special Features:

The Highland Connection Batch 1 combines a Highland Park component from 2004 with Ardnamurchan from 2019. The age statement of this six-year-old blended malt reflects the younger component. The composition brings together an Ardnamurchan Peated Butt and a Highland Park Refill Hogshead. It was bottled in 2025 at 50%, with natural colour and without chill filtration. The bottle contains 0.7 litres.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Smoked rhubarb lies over a west-coast Scottish campfire, accompanied by red raisins.
• Palate: On the palate, the whisky is peppery and sherry-led, with caramelised orange, cedarwood and cherry.
• Finish: The finish is dry and silky; marzipan, dark coffee and a light, creamy eucalyptus note linger on.

Distillery/Bottler:

Ardnamurchan Distillery and Highland Park Distillery produced the malts used in this whisky. North Star Spirits composed and bottled the blended malt as an independent bottler. The company originated with Iain Croucher’s decision to acquire his first exceptional parcel of whisky; his wife Zoë suggested the name North Star. Croucher deliberately seeks out unusual whiskies, while transparent information about cask wood, alcoholic strength and the dates of distillation and bottling forms part of his approach.

Ardnamurchan opened in 2014 at Glenbeg on the remote peninsula of the same name in western Scotland. The distillery distils and matures its whisky on site; its intended west-coast Scottish flavour profile combines gentle peat smoke with a rich, oily texture as well as honey, fruit and salinity. Highland Park was founded on Orkney in 1798 and uses aromatic heather peat from Hobbister Moor. For Batch 1, North Star combines a peated Ardnamurchan butt with a Highland Park refill hogshead.
