Special features: The Octomore 16.1 is a five-year-old single malt whisky from the renowned Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay. With an impressive peat content of 101.4 ppm and an alcohol content of 59.3%, it presents itself as a powerful representative of the Octomore series. It was distilled from Concerto barley from the Scottish Highlands and matured in first-fill bourbon casks as well as refill ex-bourbon casks. This combination gives it depth and complexity.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Aromas of caramel, vanilla sauce, and sweet malt, accompanied by intense peat smoke aromas.
- Palate: Flavors of mango, banana, and apricot jam, embedded in deep waves of peat smoke.
- Finish: An earthy peat smoke, accompanied by vanilla and sweet smoky wood notes with a mineral-maritime finish.
