Special Features:

Octomore 16.2 combines heavily peated malt with multi-stage maturation in different wine casks. Bruichladdich used the same batch of Scottish Concerto barley for this edition as for Octomore 16.1; the malt was peated to 101.4 PPM. The five-year-old single malt initially matured in Oloroso sherry and Bordeaux wine casks before spending its final year in Madeira and Portuguese Moscatel casks.

The final maturation contrasts notes of dried fruit and nuts with sweet peat smoke, adding the fruity sweetness of the finishing casks to its powerful smoky character.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose brings together dried and tropical fruit with floral notes, nuts and sweet smoke. Honey, orange blossom and a salty maritime note provide brighter accents.
• Palate: On the palate, sweet smoke and caramelised sugar meet nuts, dried fruit, candied citrus peel and powerful spices. Campfire smoke and sea salt remain clearly present.
• Finish: The finish is long, sweet and smoky, with maritime salinity, dried fruit and woody spice lingering.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Bruichladdich Distillery was founded by the Harvey brothers in 1881, closed in 1994 and revived in 2001. It distils, matures and bottles its three Islay single malts—Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte and Octomore—on the island. Octomore 16.2 is a distillery bottling.
