Special Features:

Maturation in former bourbon barrels made from American white oak shapes this Old Barco. The Caribbean rums spent many years in these casks; the wood and its previous contents contribute to the spirit's syrupy sweetness and vanilla notes. The Navy Strength version is bottled at 60% alcohol in 0.7-litre bottles.

The spirit combines pronounced molasses sweetness with chocolate, tropical fruit and gentle spice. It contains caramel colouring E150d and is offered without gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, dark chocolate and vanilla tarts meet a note of cinnamon.
• Palate: The spirit is full-bodied and distinctly sweet on the palate. Molasses takes the lead, accompanied by chocolate pieces, tropical fruit and gentle spice.
• Finish: The finish is lively and intense. Pineapple and creamy caramel combine with a subtle note of pale oak.

Distillery/Bottler:

Old Barco de Cargas draws on the connection between Caribbean rum and seafaring. The sailing ship and dedication to sailors on the label recall the historic maritime trade in rum and cane sugar. Convino A/S of Denmark is behind the bottling; the spirit is bottled in the Netherlands on the company's behalf.
