Old Pulteney 12 Years Old from the Signature Collection matures for twelve years in hand-selected, air-dried American oak ex-bourbon casks. Maturation on Scotland’s far northern coast gives the single malt its characteristic salty coastal note, balanced by sweet tones of bright citrus, honey and vanilla.

This Highland single malt is bottled at 40%, chill-filtered and contains added colouring. The 0.7-litre bottle comes in a gift box.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Bright citrus and vanilla appear first on the nose, accompanied by Wick’s salt-laden coastal air.
• Palate: Honey and cream emerge first on the palate, followed by ripe fruit and fresh spice.
• Finish: The finish is long and lively, fading with a distinctly salty note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Pulteney Distillery is located in Wick in Caithness, a small harbour town on Scotland’s north-east coast. James Henderson founded it in 1826 and named it after the newly established district of Pulteneytown. As Wick did not yet have a road connection to the outside world, barley arrived by sea and the whisky was shipped out the same way.

The distillery uses soft water from Loch Hempriggs, unpeated barley and two copper stills. The unusual wash still with its flat-topped head and a traditional worm-tub condenser contribute to the body and character of the spirit. Inver House Distillers acquired the distillery in 1995; Old Pulteney 12 Years Old was introduced two years later and is presented here as an official bottling.
