Old St. Croix (Riise) Family Reserve
Special features: Originally created in 2015 for a large family reunion of the Riise descendants, this exclusive blend was composed from carefully selected casks from renowned distilleries in the Caribbean and Central America. Initially reserved exclusively for the descendants of Albert Heinrich Riise, it is now available to anyone who wants to taste history.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Initially aromas of fruit candies, followed by stronger notes with slight hints of leather and cardamom.
Palate: Dark spices and a hint of smoke, accompanied by candied orange peel and umami.
Finish: Lemon-vanilla cream with a pinch of cinnamon.
Distillery/Bottler: The Danish pharmacist Albert Heinrich Riise founded a pharmacy in 1838 on St. Thomas in the Danish West Indies. His passion for exotic herbs and Caribbean flavors led to the development of rum, which is now marketed under the name Old St. Croix.
