Special Features:

Signature Edition #2 was initially matured in red wine casks. It was then finished in Erongo Mountain Winery’s own Gravino casks and in casks that had previously held Jewel of Namibia Brandy. Gravino is a Namibian fortified wine in the style of port; this cask programme therefore combines red wine maturation with influences from a local fortified wine and a Namibian brandy.

This official 0.7-litre bottling is released at 51%. It is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, toasted Mahangu millet and nutty grain notes meet warm oak, vanilla and restrained earthy smoke. Ripe berries and raisins from the Gravino cask add to the generous fruit character, while further dried fruit, honey and gentle spice reflect the influence of the brandy casks.
• Palate: The whiskey is creamy, full-bodied and complex on the palate. Red fruit, dark cherry and fig sit alongside toasted grain and a delicate smoky note, followed by caramel, toasted oak and a warm sweetness shaped by the brandy casks.
• Finish: The long, warming finish brings together dry, spicy oak and fine wood notes with berry sweetness, gentle spice and a hint of smoke.

Distillery/Bottler:

Erongo Mountain Winery produces Ondjaba in Omaruru, Namibia; Signature Edition #2 is an official bottling. The triple-grain recipe includes indigenous Mahangu millet. The grain is dried using smoke from processed elephant dung—a Namibian alternative to peat. After multiple distillations, the resulting whiskey matures in oak casks under the African sun.
