Ondjaba The Namibian Whiskey - Signature Edition #2
Special features: The Ondjaba The Namibian Whiskey - Signature Edition #2 is produced in Namibia by the Erongo Mountain Winery. This single grain whiskey is distilled from a blend of Mahangu millet, barley, wheat, and corn. The aging takes place in red wine barrels, followed by a finish in "Jewel of Namibia" brandy barrels as well as special Chenin "Sherry Style" barrels. With an alcohol content of 51%, this whiskey is not chill-filtered and is bottled at cask strength.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: The nose reveals spicy smoke wafts rising from the glass, mingling with quince jelly, wine gum, red grapes, and dried fruits. Nutty notes of roasted grains also emerge.
- Palate: The taste is balanced and smoky, characterized by dried apricots, orange marmalade, plums, and oak spice. The texture is creamy and full-bodied.
- Finish: The finish is long-lasting and aromatic.
Distillery/Bottler: Ondjaba is the brand of the whiskey produced by the Erongo Mountain Winery. Under the leadership of Wolfgang and Esther Koll, local grains such as Mahangu are used. The whiskey is made using a special smoking method that employs elephant dung and a double maturation in barrels. The bottler is the original bottling.
