The 14-year maturation of this Orkney single malt, distilled in 2011, concluded with a finish in first-fill oloroso sherry butts. Signatory Vintage bottled it in 2026 as number 71 in the 100 Proof Edition at 57.1%; this alcoholic strength corresponds to 100 proof in the historic British system. The whisky has its natural colour and is non-chill-filtered.

The oloroso finish brings sherry sweetness, dried fruit, dark berries, nuts and spices to the profile. Honeyed malt and gentle heather smoke provide a counterpoint, while sea salt and maritime smokiness emphasise its island character.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, sweet honeyed malt and gentle heather smoke mingle with dried fruit, complemented by a trace of sea salt.
• Palate: The whisky is full-bodied and complex on the palate. The sweetness of the oloroso finish brings out dark berries, nuts and spices, which meet maritime smoke.
• Finish: The finish is long and warming: green pepper and honeydew melon emerge, while nuts and delicate blossom honey accompany the elegant, ashy smoke note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Signatory Vintage was founded in Edinburgh in 1988 by Andrew Symington and his brother as an independent bottler. Andrew Symington acquired Edradour Distillery in 2002, and by 2007 the business had moved entirely to its site in Pitlochry. Signatory Vintage bottled this Orkney single malt as number 71 in the 100 Proof Edition.

The single malt comes from Highland Park in Kirkwall on Orkney. The distillery meets around 30% of its malt requirements with its own peated, smoky floor-malted barley and combines it with unpeated malt from the Scottish mainland. This creates a moderately peated malt and helps explain the bottling’s gentle smoky character.
