Special Features:

Powers Gold Label combines a high proportion of triple-distilled Irish pot still whiskey with selected grain whiskey. The pot still component forms the spicy heart of the blend. It is made from malted and unmalted barley and distilled in traditional copper pot stills. Only a narrowly selected heart cut is used for maturation, with generous cuts removing the heads and tails.

Maturation takes place in selected American oak bourbon casks used for whiskey maturation for the first or second time. They complement the spicy character with vanilla, toasted wood and honey sweetness. Gold Label is bottled at 43.2% without chill filtration. Cinnamon, clove oil and white pepper combine with apple and pear, while barley and oak accompany the long, oily finish.

The bottle presentation has been updated; the whiskey composition remains unchanged.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, cinnamon, clove oil and white pepper combine with apple and ripe pear. Charred oak appears in the background.
• Palate: On the palate, cinnamon and green bell pepper meet a hint of nutmeg. Orchard fruits, vanilla and toasted oak complement a distinct barley character.
• Finish: The long finish is oily and spicy. Oily pot still notes and spices slowly fade, allowing barley and toasted wood to emerge. Honey sweetness complements the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

The history of Powers began in 1791 with John’s Lane Distillery in Dublin. In 1886, Gold Label became the first whiskey bottling offered in Dublin directly by its producer.

In 1966, Powers, Jameson and Cork Distilleries joined forces to form Irish Distillers. Powers moved production from John’s Lane to Midleton Distillery in County Cork in 1975. The historic Dublin brand’s whiskey tradition continues there.
