Special Features:

After several years of maturation in stoneware vessels, Alte Marille spends several months finishing in a Prinz wooden cask. Natural fruit extracts are then added to the spirit. Cask maturation also gives it its golden-yellow colour.

The fully ripe apricots come from growing areas in the Alpine foothills. At the fruit farm, they are assessed for appearance and sensory quality. After the stones and stalks are removed and the fruit is mashed, it ferments for around 18 days. The fermented mash is then distilled twice.

The swing-top bottle contains 1 litre at 41%. A stemmed schnapps glass is suitable for serving at 17 to 21 °C, for example as a digestif.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Intense apricot fruit takes centre stage on the nose, accompanied by light floral notes.
• Palate: The apricot is full-bodied on the palate, with subtle sweetness and a delicate woody note.
• Finish: The fruity apricot flavour lingers through the mild, soft finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Fein-Brennerei Prinz is located in Hörbranz, on the Austrian shore of Lake Constance. The family business traces its history back to 1886 and is now run by the fourth generation. What began as a farm with an inn developed into a cooperage, a cider-making business and eventually today's distillery.

Prinz uses vacuum distillation and separates the distillation fractions using its proprietary Hafele-Brand process. All its distillates are distilled twice. Raw material selection, fruit mash processing and the separation of fractions during distillation are therefore key aspects of its production methods.
